De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter

Last updated April 22, 2024

The DHC-6 Twin Otter is a 19-seat twin-engine turbine powered aircraft introduced by De Havilland Canada in 1966. It is known for its ability to operate in rugged environments, thanks to its Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) capabilities, and fixed landing gear. Over 800 Twin Otters were built, before Viking Air took over production with new Series 400 aircraft. Due to its short and unimproved field performance and the ability to quickly climb to altitude, many older Twin Otters have found a new life shuttling jumpers at skydiving centers.
